Dayanand Public School Hosts Dynamic Career Counselling Session with Industry Veterans

Dayanand Public School, Jamshedpur, reaffirmed its commitment to holistic student development by organizing an impactful and comprehensive Career Counselling Session exclusively for Commerce stream students of Classes IX and XII on August 1, 2025. The initiative aimed to equip students with clarity, confidence, and direction as they prepare to transition from academic life into the professional world. The session featured a distinguished panel of keynote speakers who shared their rich expertise and experience along with the members of the management. Dr. Shrikant Nair, Director of Kerala Public Schools, and a renowned Dentist. He delivered the keynote address, focusing on Emerging Career Opportunities in Commerce in the Digital Age. Dr. Nair inspired students to adopt a growth mindset, pursue interdisciplinary skills, and remain future-ready in a world shaped by technology and innovation. Mr. Prashanta Dasgupta, Finance and IT Consultant and former Divisional Manager at Tata Motors Ltd., brought in over three decades of corporate insight and emphasized the importance of professionalism, time management, ethical decision-making, and communication skills in various commerce-related domains such as supply chain, finance, marketing, and human resources. He offered an in-depth perspective on rapidly growing sectors such as fintech, e-commerce, business analytics, international trade, and digital entrepreneurship. Drawing from real-life corporate challenges and leadership experiences, he advised students to seek internships, real-world exposure, and practical learning alongside academics. Mr. Lakshmikant Behera, Branch Manager at JGB, provided an insightful overview of the vast and ever-growing banking and financial services sector. He explained diverse roles in retail and corporate banking, insurance, investment advisory, and financial technology, and encouraged students to aim for public sector roles through competitive exams like IBPS, RBI Grade B, and NABARD, as well as explore private sector and fintech opportunities. The speakers also educated students about a wide range of professional courses including Chartered Accountancy (CA), Company Secretary (CS), Cost and Management Accountancy (CMA), B. Com (Hons), BBA, Economics, Law and internationally acclaimed certifications like CFA, ACCA, and CPA. Students were also introduced to leading institutions and global universities offering commerce-related degrees, along with crucial entrance exams including CUET, IPMAT, CLAT, and SAT. A special segment of the session was devoted to modern avenues such as entrepreneurship, the startup ecosystem, and building digital competencies like stock trading, financial planning, data analytics, and digital marketing. The interactive Q&A round witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who sought advice on career confusion, stream transitions, global opportunities, and work-life balance. The responses from the panel were practical, thoughtful, and tailored to the students’ level of understanding. School Principal, Mrs. Swarna Mishra emphasized the need for informed decision-making, especially in the dynamic and competitive landscape of commerce-related careers. She highlighted how career counselling today is not a one-time activity but a continuous process of self-discovery, skill-building, and guidance. The session concluded on an inspiring note, with students expressing a deeper sense of purpose, greater awareness of career possibilities, and increased motivation to explore their interests with confidence and clarity in the dynamic field of commerce.
